The summer travel season is upon us, which is great news for overworked employees, stressed-out families, and wearied out-of-school children. But, don’t let the anticipation of a well-deserved vacation deter you from safeguarding your business while you’re away. Before you go, ensure you’ve done everything you can to protect it from would-be vandals and thieves.

Follow these three security tips to keep your business safe.

  1. Review security procedures. One of the first steps to securing your business is to review your company security processes with all of your employees. Confirm that everyone is aware, understands, and is comfortable following the company’s security measures.

  1. Make sure your security equipment is working properly. It may have been a while since you tested all of your equipment, including alarm systems, smart locks and surveillance cameras. Test all security equipment to know what’s working and what needs to be replaced.

  1. Inform your alarm and security company. Letting your alarm and security service know when the business is closed or on skeletal crew allows them to be hypersensitive to unusual activity. Ensure both agencies have an updated contact list. If a situation does arise, you want them to have the right contact information.

At SFM Security, we believe in the “better safe than sorry” philosophy. A little extra vigilance will help keep your business safe and give you piece of mind while you’re gone. And, if you don’t have a security service, it’s never too late to start. Contact us today for a consultation.
