It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As 2015 draws to a close, we’re reminiscing about some of the events we were fortunate enough to participate in this year. From the Miami Marathon in January to ArtBasel just a few weeks ago, we have had a busy 12 months!

The Miami Marathon is a great event to start off the year. The 26.2-mile race is always done on the last Sunday in January or first Sunday in February. And for us South Floridians, that means perfect running weather. The race begins at the American Airlines Arena; the course takes runners through Miami Beach, Brickell, Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne. Hopefully the gorgeous views of our most picturesque towns keeps the runners distracted from the daunting task of running 26.2 miles!

Carnaval on the Mile is a two-day event at the beginning of March that takes place on beautiful Miracle Mile. It’s one of South Florida’s most popular and well-regarded cultural events. It’s an outdoor festival like no other; full of art, music, food and spirits. There are activities for adults, children, and even four-legged friends. It’s got a great energy and we love to mingle among the attendees and keep it clean.

Ultra Music Festival has become one of South Florida’s signature events. This multi-day, electronic music festival has become so popular, it’s not uncommon for tickets to sell out in seconds. And that’s quite a feat for an event attended by more than 160,000 people! Picking up after so many people is challenging, but the entertainment more than makes up for it.

In September of this year, City Commissioner Michael Grieco organized the Miami Beach Butt-a-Thon. This was a coastal cleanup event to help raise money for Miami Beach Senior High School. With the help of students from Beach High, Commissioner Grieco and other volunteers, we were able to remove thousands of cigarette butts and various other trash left on the beach.

The Homestead Bubble Run is the frothiest 5K you can ever experience.  Participants ran, walked and basically played around in a three-mile course of fun, full of foam cannons and colored bubble bogs. And once they were done, we were on-hand to clean up the bubbles. For the record, bubbles are not as clean as you’d expect them to be!

The South Beach Seafood Festival is one of our yummiest events, and, not surprisingly, one all of our employees volunteer to work. It celebrates our community’s delicious seafood creations and kicks off Miami’s globally-recognized annual stone crab season. Thousands of visitors flock to the Beach to enjoy this all-day festival that features more than seafood. There’s also live music, culinary and mixology demonstrations, a kids’ zone, a health village, and more!

It’s a NASCAR fan’s dream to be able to go behind the scenes at the Ford Championship Weekend. And we were there! The Ford Championship Weekend is the name given to the final race weekend of the NASCAR season, where all three of its major series run their last events of the year and officially crown their series champions. The race takes place at Homestead-Miami Speedway and this year over 120 SFM team members kept the place clean!

Art Basel Miami Beach has become an internationally renowned contemporary art fair. During one whirlwind week, as many as 73,000 art dealers, artists, collectors and aficionados gather in Miami to submerge themselves in art. The fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center is only one of many artistic and cultural events that take place during the week, and we’re proud to keep it safe and secure.

We had a great year and are excited about new opportunities to come in 2016!
