We’re in the peak of perfect-South-Florida-weather. This is the time of year when the rest of the country wishes they were down here, and we’re taking advantage of every opportunity to be outdoors … concerts, craft shows, art festivals. You name it; we all want to participate, which is why it’s also a time to be cognizant of the dangers that can be associated with large crowds.

These tips will help you stay safe at large-scale events …

  1. Location, location, location. If you’re attending a big event with a group of people, it’s a good idea to decide on a meet-up location in case your group gets separated. Before you get caught up in the excitement of the event, pick a location that is outside of the busy main area, but not so far that you couldn’t easily get to it.
  2. Locate emergency exits.  More than half of injuries at concerts occur when people are trying to get out of the building or concert area. Take a minute to locate marked exits, and determine the safest way out.
  3. A photo says a thousand words.  If you’re attending an event with your child, snap a picture with your phone as soon as you arrive at the event venue. If you get separated from your child, the stress of the situation will make it difficult for you to remember what your son or daughter was wearing when you walked out of the house.

Next month we’ll share more tips to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your property safe while you’re out living life to the fullest.
